THE 4TH ANNUAL
CAMP RENAISSANCE/K-O SKILLS SUMMER WRITING CLUB

One of our most treasured Camp activities is the Camp Renaissance/K-O Skills Summer Writing Club. The Summer Writing Club, which is open to all Campers at no extra charge, meets five times at early-evening sessions. The exact dates, along with a registration sheet, will be included in our May mailing. Registration information will also be posted on our website on May 15.

The objective of the Summer Writing Club is to help our Campers develop their writing skills and, hopefully, develop a love of writing!

2ND ANNUAL
CAMP RENAISSANCE/K-O SKILLS SUMMER READING CLUB

Dear Camp Families:

One of my favorite quotes about the value of reading comes from French novelist Marcel Proust: "Reading is a kind of sanctuary where human beings have access to thousands of different realities they might otherwise never encounter or understand. Each of these new realities can transform your life."

In summer 2010, we will hold our 2nd annual Camp Renaissance/K-O Skills Summer Reading Club. The Club will be open to all Campers at no extra charge. The objective of the Club will be to encourage our wonderful Campers to read and, in the process, to hopefully develop an enjoyment, if not love of, reading.

Membership in the Summer Reading Club will be at three levels, all on the Camp Honor System:

  • Completion of two books means Formal Membership in the Club.
  • Completion of three books means Medal Membership in the Club.
  • Completion of four or more books means Gold Medal Membership in the Club.

The Club will run from June 28 to August 9. In other words, all books must be read within that timeframe. There will be no formal meetings, and books may be read at home, on vacation, or in whatever environment best suits the Camper.

At some point the week of August 9, we will hold a ceremony at which honor certificates will be presented. Our May mailing will include full details on how to enroll in the Summer Reading Club. On May 15, the same information will be posted on our website.

We are pleased that the Summer Reading Club has become an annual tradition at Camp Renaissance and K-O Skills.

Best wishes,
Dan Doyle
