The Objective: To provide a compelling summer basketball experience for high school players which will offer each participant:
- A well structured skills development program
- College counseling for those high school players wishing to play college basketball
- Weight training
- Plyometrics
- Good competition
Special Features will include:
- How to play against zones
- How to handle pressure defense, both man-to-man and zone traps
- Plus! A number of sessions about what it takes to play college basketball
College Counseling: The college counseling program will be administered as follows:
- Underclassmen/Upperclasswomen will receive counseling on what it takes to play in college, including discussion of grades, SATs, and basketball ability.
- Upperclassmen/Upperclasswomen will receive similar counseling and, as well, direction as to what, if any, specific level of college basketball each upperclassman/upperclasswoman should pursue. Dan Doyle and staff members will recommend specific schools to the upperclassmen/upperclasswomen - schools which offer the best academic and basketball match.
- All upperclassmen/upperclasswomen will have their transcript reviewed.
- For those athletes who are considered reasonable candidates to play college basketball, Dan Doyle will personally contact schools on their behalf. Following our past clinics, Mr. Doyle contacted over 40 schools on behalf of campers.
- All participants will be advised on remedial academic steps to take, when appropriate.
- "This is a tremendous camp in every way, including the chance for upperclassmen and upperclasswomen to get great college counseling." James Bullock, camp staff member, and former head boy's basketball coach, St. George's in Newport.
Our Job:
- To be honest in our evaluation
- To be accurate in our evaluation
- To help direct youngsters toward the right schools. The administrators of this clinic object to "scouting services" which simply market young student-athletes without really paying attention to the skill level of the young athlete, and the right college fit. At our clinic, players will receive sound, honest advice and, when appropriate, college recommendations.
Questions: If you have any questions, please contact Dan Doyle at 233-3500 extension 2296.
